Kings Dominion

The view from the Eiffel Tower

The whole clan minus the Dads

We spent Mother's Day at King's Dominion a huge amusement park in our area with some of our old friends from California. Had a blast riding rides and catching up. Both Jeremy and I realized we are getting old as our bodies didn't enjoy the abuse quite like they used to. Both boys loved every second of it. Nick's favorite ride was The Intimidator which if you look at the overall picture from up top of the Eiffel Tower it is the super big red and yellow one in the back with a straight vertical plunge. Aidan's favorite ride was the log chute which he rode 6 times. He wasn't big enough to go on most of the coasters but he braved everything he was tall enough to go on. Jeremy also did the pure free fall orange one in the middle with Grant. That was the only one Nick wouldn't ride. He said he giggled like a school girl it was so scary. We realized how blessed we are to have friends who years after being neighbors you can just pick up with and have a great time. The boys were like instant friends again and Aidan was still madly in love with Meg who was like a second Mom to him out in California. Thank you Archers for a wonderful day. Thank you also to my wonderful husband who spoiled me rotten with presents and an ice cream cake. Happy Mother's Day to all the Moms in my life who inspire me, encourage me, mentor me, pray for me and help me to be the best Mom I can be. Love you all!

Summer Fun and the Eastern Box Turtle

We found the turtle on our sidewalk when we got home and Aidan chased him into the bushes. We have seen quite a few Eastern box turtles in our yard this past year. I guess they must love the creek in the back yard. Apparently turtles can move really fast when they want to because he flew into the bushes and then hid in his shell when he saw Aidan coming. It has been beautiful over the last week here in the mid 80's with some nasty humidity so the kids got the sprinkler out and have been enjoying being silly and sunning themselves.

Little League Night at the Potomac Nationals

On Friday night it was Little League night at the Potomac Nationals which is the single A team for the Nationals organization and they play literally down the street from our house. The boys got to walk on the field before the game and stand with the players while they sang the National Anthem and got autographs and got to run the bases. They loved every minute of it. Nick watched most of the game while Aidan went with his little friends to the kid play zone and jumped in the bouncy houses all night. We left before it was over because it started to thunder and lightning and because we had early morning baseball games on Saturday.

Mount Vernon

On Sunday we spent the day at Mount Vernon with the boys. We got a spectacular 70 degree day to be  hiking around George Washington's estate. For those who have never been a lot of hiking is an understatement. The view along the Potomac is amazing and so peaceful. There is so much history to take in everywhere that it was hard to take it all in with two little tired legs following us everywhere. We highly recommend Mount Vernon if you are in the DC area.
