Operation Christmas Child
A few weeks ago we filled our shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child. The boys enjoy this project more and more each year and our more and more determined to fit as much stuff as humanly possible into the box. They just can't fathom not having a present to open on Christmas. We have really tried to instill in them each year a desire to help others and give back during the Holiday season so they are not so tied up in what they are getting. This year we are doing Feed my Starving Children with Cub Scouts and donated new toys to Toys for Tots and did care packages for the troops. We also picked an angel off the angel tree. I hope it helps my children remember what the season is really about and that is not presents under the Christmas tree. Note to self for next year though choose boxes that have separate lids to make wrapping them less stressful.
